seven days of gratitude: day five

i am a san francisco, california born individual.
i grew up crossing the golden gate bridge, eating sourdough, swimming in oceans, and using my state’s rolling hills as a playground. i am from the golden state and wouldn’t have it any other way.

today i am grateful for the state in which i call my home. i feel lucky to live in the bay area and luckier still to live in california. california appears like a dream to most people and does so to me, too, despite living here for the entirety of my life. i never knew what it was to grow up without an ocean a few minutes away or without redwood trees. i live where sunshine spills down more often than not and where the landscape changes every hundred miles. there exist oceans, forests, mountains, hills, and deserts. the population of people contain a variety of cultures and ethnicities. our mexican food is as delicious as our thai food and as populous as our italian food. california is a melting pot, through and through.

california and its attitudes have shaped me completely. i am grateful to be living in one of the most laid back places in the world. i feel as if my birthplace has set me up to see the magic in every day life and in all faces i meet. and i don’t want to brag, but i think i might live in the most beautiful state…!

i live where mass amounts of people move to. i live where people dream about.

how about that?
