suzie’s room

she was dyed blonde and 48,
though i assumed she was thirty.

she spoke endlessly, over me,
telling me —

stories of yin and yang and psyche transcendence, her
48 year virgo-snake journey wrapped up in energies boundless and unseen,

laid out for me on carpeted wooden floors and cushions, among
garden plants living between walls and soft lights, illuminating.

she looked at me and said, “look me in the eyes. i want you to remember this.”

blue found green, intently and innocently, and she said,

“life is in the free fall.”
